Aldi has revealed the winner of its Christmas card design competition with Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

The UK’s fifth-largest supermarket has invited young people supported by the charity to submit designs for its 2021 Christmas card range.

Winning designs by Chrissy Cruickshank, 24 from Bristol who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in 2019, will appear in stores across the country from this week – with 50p from the sale of each pack going to TCT.

Chrissy wowed the judges, including Mary Dunn, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, with her Christmas tree and gold star card designs.

The Christmas card competition was launched as part of Aldi’s ongoing partnership with TCT last year, with the supermarket working with the charity since 2017.

So far, Aldi has raised over £6m through various initiatives for TCT, with the aim of raising a further £4m by 2027.

On winning the competition, Chrissy said: “I was motivated by my Youth Support Coordinator, Hannah at TCT, to get involved in this competition because she knew I loved art and painting – and now I’m so glad I did!

“It’s the little things like this that make such a difference in your mindset and I can’t wait to see the cards hit stores this week. I’ll be sending one out to all my friends and family !

Mary Dunn, Managing Director of Corporate Responsibly at Aldi UK, said: “We hope everyone enjoyed taking part in our Christmas card design competition as much as we enjoyed looking at the submissions.

“All the submissions were fantastic, but we were really impressed with Chrissy and couldn’t choose between her two designs, so we decided to produce both.

“The work the Teenage Cancer Trust does for young people is extremely important and we are pleased to be able to support them through our continued partnership.”

Kate Collins, Chief Executive of the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Aldi’s dedication to supporting us through such a wide range of initiatives is truly extraordinary and we couldn’t be more proud to partner with them.

“We can’t wait to see Chrissy’s amazing creations in store this week and will be so grateful to anyone who purchases a pack this Christmas.”
