It’s the season of giving and PlayStation wants to let fans participate in some behind-the-scenes communications. PlayStation has released a batch of greeting cards from industry developers, featuring some of the most popular games and plenty of familiar faces.
This isn’t the first time PlayStation has celebrated by sharing its greeting cards. PlayStation has shared winter 2020 developer greeting cards, where companies from PlayStation Studios and beyond appear with some of their popular IPs. Then new games like the one from Housemarque Returnand Lucid Destruction Allstars making appearances, with bigger name series like Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warand Epic Games’ fortnite. Many games themselves have already begun their holiday festivities, with fortnite Winterfest 2021 has just started and Call of Duty: Warzone with the Festive Fervor event.
This year’s PlayStation greeting card set includes many returning faces as well as some new ones. Once again, PlayStation Studios features prominently here, with a nice Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart card from Insomniac Games, a festive Aloy and a machine from Guerilla’s Forbidden Horizon Westand a rather eerie but festive skull and space helmet from Housemarque and Return. Long-time Naughty Dog fans will appreciate their greeting card, featuring the titular Jak and Daxter in celebration The heritage of the precursors20th anniversary. The full collection of greeting cards can be viewed here.
As for third-party greeting cards, they make up the majority of the images included here. Respawn Entertainment has sent out a festive Apex Legends map where Octane, Mirage, and Pathfinder, among others, are all dressed up for the season. Many Square Enix franchises are on its map, with Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 14, Deny automata, and many other games including inside multiple snowflakes. And finally, the Sega greeting card shows the holder sonic the hedgehog, Super monkey ballit’s AiAi, personas 5‘s Morgana, and other characters in a warm Christmas scene.
Seeing the inside of the gaming industry like this is something regular gamers of 20 years ago couldn’t do. With exclusive art and a sense of camaraderie, the greeting cards convey the sense of community that game developers share. Maybe some of these illustrations will be reposted in the specific communities that appeared here, but this is the best place to see the entire collection of greeting cards in one place. Fans can check out the year-end sale on the PlayStation Shop to get deals on many games listed in the collection.
