Pupils from a local primary school came up with creative designs to welcome new residents to The Hawthorns development, Elswick.

Children from Great Eccleston Copp C of E School were asked by home builder Kingswood Homes to design welcome cards to hand out to residents of the development.

Sales Manager Lesley Myers said: “Schools are at the heart of our communities and so we asked the children to help us make new residents of The Hawthorns feel at home and part of the neighborhood. by designing welcome cards.

“The standard of entries was excellent – the children really showed off their artistic talents which made it difficult to choose a winner and so we picked three.

“We loved Erin’s photo of a house on her card, while Jessie and Jessica both used color extensively on their entries.”

The three winners were invited to visit The Hawthorns where they each received vouchers from the property developer, while the school received a £500 donation.

School steward Helen Lawrenson said: “The Kingswood Art Competition was great fun for the children. They enjoyed working on the brief, many using the colors of the Kingswood logo. We are grateful to Kingswood for recognizing the children’s efforts with three awards and even more grateful for the donation to the school.”
