New Video Greeting Cards Add Cheer to the Holiday Season | KAMR

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The holiday season is a time to connect with friends, loved ones and, for active military members, home care packages.
With Christmas cards and care packages, Hallmark is stepping up a gear, with video greeting cards.
“You can just add your photos and videos, invite others to join in on the fun,” said Krista Masilionis, director of global innovation at Hallmark. “It’s a pretty slick platform. Hallmark will quickly put it together for a unique video experience. It’s a way to reach out and connect with those deployed loved ones.
Vacations are about connecting with those closest to us, which has been difficult to do during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We were looking at how consumers were connecting digitally and we took that experience and paired it with a physical card for a one-time special delivery,” Masilionis said.
So how does it work?
“Inside each card is a unique QR code, which the sender would scan to save the video, and the recipient would scan to watch the finalized video,” Masilionis said.
Another cool feature, “it creates a digital keepsake. They can download it to their phone and watch and re-watch it whenever they want, wherever they are,” she said.
Bringing the true meaning of vacations full circle.
